Pihl builds Danish law firm's new domicile in Copenhagen

Pihl and building owner Carlsberg Properties have signed a contract for the construction of a new domicile building for the Danish law firm of Horten. The law firm will be able to welcome its clients in the new building in Tuborg Harbour, Hellerup, by the end of 2009.

The main contract for 270 MDKK comprises the construction of an 8,800-square metre domicile building designed by architects 3xN. The construction works will start up by June 2008 and the building will be ready for occupation by autumn 2009. The domicile is located in Tuborg South, a part of Tuborg Harbour in Hellerup north of Copenhagen.

The design of the building will reflect the law firm's international perspective, and the layout of the building makes room for different forms of co-operation; individual offices for more traditional work and absorption whereas the building's common areas, inspired by Italian squares, make room for knowledge sharing across departments and specialties.

The building's unique, richly faceted facades are coved with natural stones, one of Pihl's specialties, whereas minor glass facades and windows supply the building with daylight and a view to the surrounding environment of Tuborg Harbour. The domicile is built on an underground car park.

Pihl has experience from construction of a number of domicile buildings and other large building projects. At the moment Pihl builds new domiciles for Aller Press, SEB and Ramböll Denmark. The project's consulting engineer is Ramboll Denmark.
